People's Militia, Arise!

Here they are, my freshly painted "People's Militia" for Chain of Command. I don't quite have enough of them for a full platoon (41 figs), so I've filled out their number with 8 loyalist Civil Guards.  At least, that is, until Minairons releases its new Militiamen box sometime this Autumn.

The group is built around a core of Minairons Militiawomen which are just gorgeous sculpts, and as usual needing next to no clean-up.  All of the male figures, including the Civil Guard are from Irregular. The militiamen type figures are from their WWII French Resistance line, and by and large they look pretty good. Everything is 20mm of course.

I'm particularly impressed with the Militawomen's weapon teams which come with these sandbags.

Civil Guard. I really like how they look. I may need to work towards a full platoon of these.

  2. Great stuff. Will these be in action soon?
I boosted my militia with Guardia Civil for the initial games. After a few games you'll find another 20 or so figures useful for the '10 Milicianos – as a single Squad or spread as desired' option.

    1. Oh yes. Just played my first game with them. I'll post a battle report tomorrow or Monday. It was a really interesting game actually - so different playing militia!

When the new Minairons militamen come out I'll be painting a couple of boxes of those up to fill out the numbers, and I should definitely have the extra sections at that point. I was thinking of investing in more Guards as well...

    2. The handful of Guardia that I padded out my militia with can now be fielded as a full strength platoon.

  4. Very nice! Not sure what the militia would think about the Guardia Civil though. Those that stayed loyal to the Republic were renamed the Republican National Guard and got a new uniform without the hated tricornio but many in the militias still didn't trust them...

    1. Thanks! I'll be using the Guardia with militia mostly for very early war scenarios (like the July 1936 one I will post in a few days), so I figure it works with these uniforms. I was surprised that a significant amount of the Guards went with the Republic at all, but that appears to be the case.

But really, the guards here are just place holders for more militia that I hope to have soon.
